I am thinking of having a page on MySpace. I see that some people have 2,000 friends and others have 43.

Does having a lot of friends on MySpace means that you are popular?

no some people just add random people for the sake of it...i think its stupid to be honest as you wont ever speak to everyone on ur list...i love myspace and have a good number of people i know and will speak to rather than creating a massive 'friends list' like some people do of people they have never and will never meet

i've been on myspace for about month and have about 30 friends. You can find a range of friends by searching and chatting, and basically being active on the site. It's also a good site if you want to enjoy music that not everyone would listen to. I really enjoy it because i can change my background leave cool guestbook messages and just surf around

Not at all. Do you think that the people with 2000 friends knows all of them in person or has even chatted with them? They are what is called 'Friend Whores'. I have 71 friends, most of them I know in person, or did at one point (old HS friends) some I have met here in Y!A and others are musicians I am interested in being updated on. There is one cause that I am interested in that has a page there also.

Well kind of, most of the time people just cling on to some one famous or hot so people will see that they're connected to them, and just collecting friends. People who have 43 friends probably know all of them and actually to them on myspace.

No. sometimes the myspace bands, singers or artists like to have a large number so they can send them bulletins. Sometimes people like to play the numbers game and just invite as many as they can, and are in competition with others.

I have been on myspace for about a year (I think) and I just have friends that I want to keep in contact with and I have some of my fav rock band myspace pages on there too, so I can get regular bulletins about when they are releasing singles, touring or whatever.
